Q: Which is the best seat on a helicopter?
The front row seats are typically the most desirable because passengers can see out without having to peer over a fellow passenger. The front seats also offer more legroom than the back seats.
Q: What are the best times to take a helicopter tour?
Mornings and evenings work well because the sun isn’t directly overhead and won’t interfere with your pictures. Visibility is sometimes better in the morning than it is in the afternoon.
Q: What should I wear for a Hawaii helicopter ride?
Dress comfortably, like you would for any outdoor activity in Hawaii. However, if you choose a doors-off tour, your flight will be windy and cold so jackets and/or sweatshirts are required and long pants are recommended. Closed toed shoes are also required for doors-off tours. Hats are often not allowed on board your flight. Lastly, for anyone with long hair – a hair tie is recommended.

This is by far the coolest thing I have done in my 73 years. Lucien was fantastic. Great narration about the sights and very informative. If I had more time, I would do another helicopter ride. I cannot recommend Rainbow Helicopters enough. When in Hawaii, contact Rainbow Helicopters for a very exciting ride.
The highlight of our trip! The views were spectacular, our pilot Darrell was so great explaining everything we were seeing and making sure we all got great views. He made me feel very safe. Doors off are the way to go!

This was my very first time in a helicopter. After I arrived in Hawaii (for a conference plus an extra two days for myself), I know I had to finally do this. After all, I grew up as a kid watching Magnum, P.I., and TC was one of my favorite characters on the show!
As to the ride...yes, it is expensive (at least to me), but it IS WORTH IT. It was a fantastic experience to see Honolulu and the surrounding areas from above (as much as 2000 ft). The oceans and mountains are so beautiful. I was never once scared...just amazed, and amazed the whole time. My pilot Freddy was fantastic as well. Very freindly and personable. He asked me questions as well as answered mine. It was a true conversation on top of acting as a tour guide. I cannot recommend him enough. And...do the ride with the doors off. You will be glad that you did!

This may have been my confusion, but I Thought our flight was supposed to be my in-land (to see some waterfalls that can't be seen from roads or hiking in?), but our flight just went on the outskirts of the island. I wasn't sure if this was due to the fact that the weather was not as great that day or just my misunderstanding. However, we still really enjoyed our flight and did get to see some areas we had not seen from the ground. Our pilot was very friendly and knowledgeable, and all other staff were very friendly as well. Overall, a great experience.

What an amazing adventure. We did the private 45mn doors-off. Saw a hunchback whale, playing dolphin, giant sea turtle. Friendly staff, our pilot Turner is very communicative which we liked a lot and he gave us interesting info. He spotted the sea animals first! Rainbow Helicopters: highly recommended!

The flight is definitely worth the money! I had an incredible, unique experience I won't forget. We saw waterfalls, banana and pineapple plantations, a rainbow over the mountains and the beautiful beginning of the sunset. Also, the Rainbow Helicopters team including our pilot, who told us lots of stories about O'ahu, were awesome. I absolutely recommend this to everyone!

We had an awesome time! Oliver was a great pilot and host, giving us the landmarks and information. He was on the watch for whales, spotting some and circling back around for us to see. A highlight of our final spring break with kids leaving for college.
This was the highlight of our trip. Doors off made it even more memorable. Seeing the island from above gave us a completely new perspective. Our pilot Harley was so informative, with the various landmarks and history, not to mention great piloting skills on a very windy day.

Awesome flight, from the start at the office to the flight, everything was great. the ground crew were professional at every step and Kyle, our pilot was wonderful. He pointed out so many areas along the flightpath that we would not have noticed. The trip was worth every penny and we will definitely do it again.

FAR OUT! I'm 62 and my 1st time in HI Aloha! Online reservations are super easy. Easy to locate event. Well prepared video training. All staff were friendly and professional. Riley, our pilot, has THE BEST JOB EVER! Can you imagine my excitement when I saw I was going to be seated in the "co-pilot" seat?!!! Sheer joy I tell you. Riley's obviously well experienced and did not disappoint in sharing his flying skills. I got fantastic videos and images!!!! We will be back. Mahalo!

They were SOOOO accomodating for the handicapped! What patience they had! God Bless Them! All of them! They all worked like a team should work! Since we were the last customers for the day, we were able to cabitz with the staff afterwards and found them to be extremly friendly. They even suggested a great restaurant to eat afterwards and that was a hit as well! The ride was EVERY worth the cost for the ride. You won't be diapointed!

Best way to tour the island of Oahu. I recommend doors on after the doors off tour. You will be able to hold your camera without shaking from wind. The doors off is a once and a lifetime thrill and completely safe.

The one bummer was how long it took to get our ride started. Our tour was scheduled for 4 PM and so we arrived an hour early as instructed. After waiting until 4:15 we proactively went to ask the staff at the desk what the delay was and were told it was because the helicopters had to be refueled. After seeing tour groups go to their flights who had arrived after us, at 4:30 pm when nobody had gone to get us, I approached the counter again where I found both your staff on their cell phones. When I asked them when our tour would start they asked me our name and looked at the computer and then radioed out to the field. I really think they forgot about us and had I trusted that they would "come get us when the helicopters had refueled" we would have delayed even longer. We received the full tour which was awesome but it caused me to cancel evening activities I had scheduled and paid for.
Overall, I would suggest this tour to anyone but I was disappointed with the experience prior to.

This helicopter tour was an amazing experience. You will get to see parts of the island you are unable to see driving around the island. My pilot Riley was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made us feel safe and was a great pilot. Highly recommend doing the tour. Worth the money.

Service was delivered with a smile from all staff members. Our pilot, Bastian, was the best. He checked in on us while in flight. He guided the tour in a manner that allowed time for the best photos. When turbulence was expected, he informed us beforehand. This tour isn’t for the faint of heart, but if you dare go on the doors off tour, be prepared for an amazing ride with the most magnificent views of the island. You won’t regret it. I highly recommend. This was my first time on a helicopter and I won’t hesitate to get on one again!

The tour was incredible and staff were super friendly and made you feel very safe. We did have a 1.5 hr wait after we checked in which was annoying but forgot all about it once we were up in the air. Would recommend bringing a light jacket if you get cold easily.

The OPEN DOOR option is a Thrilling ride! **NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART** there’s literally a seat belt holding you from falling of the A-Star Helicopter. I had to use one had to hold on to the top of the cabin and use my other one to record video from my iPhone. Got a bit tiresome. That being said it is as advertised, a thrill. The staff was very efficient and polite. Our pilot Sarah was informative and kept the helicopter at a smooth ride. The scenery is amazing up there. The turquoise water and the Jurassic mountains are worth the price. I recommend with and without doors.

This was a very nice experience! The ride was super smooth and it felt absolutely safe to do the doors off tour. We booked the 45 min tour that takes you around the coast and into the hidden places of the island of Oahu, only visible from up above! It was a total of 7 of us in the helicopter, including the pilot. Our pilot was sharing great insights about the different places / locations we flue by.
The only reason this is 4 star instead of 5, is because we sat on the right and at the beginning, missed out on some of the cool views on the left almost entirely... It would have been so great if the helicopter turned for a few moments to show people sitting on the right the full views on the left and vice versa. All in all we enjoyed it very much! This is definitely something that will show you the island from a unique and even more beautiful perspective!

Just a couple days later, that day arrived. We were SO EXCITED that we switched our day and ended up having the best weather Oahu has had in a couple weeks. Sarah, our pilot, was so knowledgable with the island and flying. We felt incredibly safe, and had such a wonderful time. We were in shock of the beauty of the island and seeing it the way Sarah showed us. We will definitely do it again when we come back to Oahu. Our helicopter ride with Josh was wonderful and after a week in Hawaii having done snorkeling, shark dives, and parasailing, my boys say that the Helicopter ride with the doors off was top of their experiences.
The one bummer was how long it took to get our ride started. Our tour was scheduled for 4 PM and so we arrived an hour early as instructed. After waiting until 4:15 we proactively went to ask the staff at the desk what the delay was and were told it was because the helicopters had to be refueled. After seeing tour groups go to their flights who had arrived after us, at 4:30 pm when nobody had gone to get us, I approached the counter again where I found both your staff on their cell phones. When I asked them when our tour would start they asked me our name and looked at the computer and then radioed out to the field. I really think they forgot about us and had I trusted that they would “come get us when the helicopters had refueled” we would have delayed even longer. We received the full tour which was awesome but it caused me to cancel evening activities I had scheduled and paid for.
Overall, I would suggest this tour to anyone but I was disappointed with the experience prior to.

Best way to tour the island of Oahu. I recommend doors on after the doors off tour. You will be able to hold your camera without shaking from wind. The doors off is a once and a lifetime thrill and completely safe.

This may have been my confusion, but I Thought our flight was supposed to be my in-land (to see some waterfalls that can’t be seen from roads or hiking in?), but our flight just went on the outskirts of the island. I wasn’t sure if this was due to the fact that the weather was not as great that day or just my misunderstanding. However, we still really enjoyed our flight and did get to see some areas we had not seen from the ground. Our pilot was very friendly and knowledgeable, and all other staff were very friendly as well. Overall, a great experience.

This was my very first time in a helicopter. After I arrived in Hawaii (for a conference plus an extra two days for myself), I know I had to finally do this. After all, I grew up as a kid watching Magnum, P.I., and TC was one of my favorite characters on the show!
As to the ride…yes, it is expensive (at least to me), but it IS WORTH IT. It was a fantastic experience to see Honolulu and the surrounding areas from above (as much as 2000 ft). The oceans and mountains are so beautiful. I was never once scared…just amazed, and amazed the whole time. My pilot Freddy was fantastic as well. Very freindly and personable. He asked me questions as well as answered mine. It was a true conversation on top of acting as a tour guide. I cannot recommend him enough. And…do the ride with the doors off. You will be glad that you did!
